Catalog Description: - Wage and salary administration in private and public organizations; total compensation systems; interrelationship among employee performance, intrinsic and extrinsic rewards, perceived equitable payments, and employee satisfaction; employee benefits; employee incentive programs.
Prerequisites: MGT 373 and senior standing
Course Objectives: The primary objective of this course is to increase student knowledge about the compensation function. After completing this course, students will better understand how pay decisions help the organization achieve a competitive advantage. Specific topics where student knowledge will be enhanced include the following; 1) internal consistency, 2) external competitiveness 3) employee contributions, and 4) administration issues.

Evaluation: Student performance will be measured through exams and a project. Exams will consist primarily of short answer and essay questions.
Projects: Team projects will be completed during the semester using the Cases in Compensation book. At the completion of the projects, students will have learned to design and manage a pay system at a hypothetical organization.
