Catalog Description: - Advanced treatment of leading-edge theories and practices in human resource management that focus on effective employee management. Topics include equal employment opportunity, human resource planning, recruiting, selection, training and development, compensation, and employee and labor relations.
Prerequisite: None
Course Objective: Upon completion, the student should be able to indicate and explain various human resource management interventions that may be required when dealing with the work environment, people, and problems. In particular, the student should be able to critically analyze organizational situations, prescribe courses of action necessary for problem solving, and integrate the steps necessary for effective implementation.
Current Textbook: Current literature is the basis of content covered with emphasis on journal articles. Contact course coordinator for current list of readings.
Evaluation: Sufficient examinations should be given during a semester to provide a sound basis for the evaluation of student performance. Examinations should contain content from the lecture and assigned readings. The minimum number of exams will be a midterm and a final. A term paper will be required which describes or analyzes some human resource topic. Other types of evaluation including library assignments, homework, or in-class activities may be employed at the discretion of the professor.
