Goals and Strategies

 

 INSTRUCTIONAL

1.   Continue to provide a quality accounting educational process which will:

  1. Prepare students for entry into the accounting profession.
  2. Service needs of other programs and majors at SFASU.

2.      Instructional goals for above:

  1. Increase success on CPA exam.

Strategies

      Integrate CPA type questions into upper level accounting
      courses
      Maintain contact with students and periodically email encouragement, hot accounting tips, and CPA exam study tips.

  1. Improve student evaluations of faculty.
  2. Provide best possible quality opportunities for entry into the profession.

      Strategy: 

            Increase employment opportunities for students.

 

RESEARCH, SCHOLARSHIP AND CREATIVE ACTIVITY

      All terminally qualified faculty actively involved in research.

            Strategies: 

           

                  Promote and support faculty participation in presentations and/or publishing.

                  Host and/or attend workshops and seminars to learn new ideas.

                  Promote and support interaction between faculty and students.

                  Provide flexibility in scheduling to promote research activities.

                  Strive to provide clerical, technical, and administrative support to promote research activities.

 

OUTREACH AND SERVICE

1.      All faculty actively involved in professional interaction by participating in at least one local/regional/national/or    international professional organization.

      Strategies: 

            Promote and support active faculty participation in professional and civic organizations.
           
      Promote and support faculty service to the business community.

2.  Build more strategic partnerships with industry and alumni.

            Strategies:    

                  Form an active advisory council that meets annually.
           
      Strengthen alumni networks by more faculty interaction with alumni.

 

TEACHING EFFECTIVENESS AND STUDENT SUCCESS

1.  Each student to obtain a job upon graduation.

2.  Conduct on-going review and assessment of student success in departmental courses.
