3. The CPA exam covers many areas. Will I receive sufficient
instruction in all those areas by simply completing the MPA requirements?
To a certain degree, it will depend on the electives you select. For example, tax is
a major portion of one of the sections of the CPA exam. Much of this material is
covered in ACC 543, an elective accounting graduate class. In addition to careful
selection of electives, one must still study additional hours above the course
requirements to pass the CPA exam. If you are a normal student with a GPA of 3.0 or
above, 300 hours of study is required for the CPA exam. If your GPA is less than
3.0, 400 hours of study is required.
4. How many times can I attempt the CPA exam?
The New CPA exam is in 4 windows. Each window is 3 months long with the exam
available for 2 of those months. After you pass any part, you have a time limitation
on completing the entire exam. You may now receive credit for passing only one part
of the exam even if you do not make above 50 on the other parts of the exam. The
AICPA has content specifications which ensure topical coverage of the exam.
5. Are there any requirements to sit for the CPA exam that must be
pursued outside of the university environment?
No
